Budget Committee

The Budget Committee reviews, advises on and makes recommendations to the City Council to adopt a budget by June 30 for each fiscal year. The approved budget will include State Revenue Sharing, assumed hourly wage and the budget itself.  The committee shall work with the City Administrator and the Finance Director to achieve this goal following all the rules and regulations associated with State Budget Law. 

The committee is made up of all City Council members and an equal  number of volunteer members. The committee shall meet a minimum of two times per year.  A knowledge of the budgeting process and the ability to learn and understand the governmental accounting side of budgeting is preferred. The committee members shall live within the City limits of Jacksonville and be a qualified elector.  State Budget Law states that the term of service is three years.
